Performing Arts. I've been doing that for years now, and still the dog startles and growls until he sees. When I first read this poem, I was shocked.

It seemed to be very full of emotion. I especially liked the beginning of the poem, because I knew what was going on right away, and was not left to wonder. I was sad towards the end of the poem, because the author made it seem that nothing was ever going to change.

As soon as the poem started out, I thought it was about a father, who is an alcoholic, molesting his daughter. I felt as if the speaker of the poem had given up on her father.

I picture the speaker as a young girl, possibly the sister of the girl who is being molested, who has wisdom beyond her years. She has witnessed way too many horrible things for her young age. The speaker says that everything is supposed to be perfect and unchanging in the past, though she knows it is not that way. The speaker talks about how she tries to mutter a warning to her sister, but she never seems to hear it. The use of imagery as well as the detail in this poem really helped to draw me in and feel like I was there.
