The benefits of a lightweight stove over a portable stove are that they are more portable and usually burn much hotter meaning they cook faster and are more fuel-efficient.
One really good style of lightweight stove is the JetBoil. The JetBoil comes with a proprietary stove burner and pot that is incredibly efficient, protecting the flame and insulating the pot as you cook. Portable stoves need aerosol canister gas and other lightweight camping stoves need cartridge-style gas or liquid fuel systems. Winter gas will give you the same cooking time as regular camping gas.
Before you go camping, weigh your canister. Weigh your canister again when you come home and work out the difference. You cannot usually fly with gas cartridges or canisters unless they are empty. Camping lover since birth particularly enjoys chilly sunsets in the grounds of historic castles and fresh sunrises at sacred places. If you're going to be going car camping, it stands to reason that you'll have a lot more space and weight to play with than if you were using public transport or going backpacking.
Many car campers Tent footprints have become a popular accessory for campers in the last few years, but I have to admit that I never really considered using a tent footprint until recently.
After doing some Skip to content. Tea is possibly the most important drink when camping. I've just got a off ebay which was going to be for weekend camping, but after reading this thread I will probably look out for another and take them both on longer breaks as well.
It'll give my hubby the extra space he craves for a blow up sofa, we'll have a spare when we finally do run out of gas and will cost less to transport about. So I'd stick to the or , keep an eye out on ebay or the local tip for one and have more space to pack those little luxuries. Then weve been non elec for a couple of years.
Last few times used all time even for boiling kettle when we have elec - just habbit, worked out it lasted 4 weeks, doing meals a day plus boiling water for washing pots and coffee. Now got a half one and a full one ready for Chy Carne, but they do sell them there. I do have 4. My first I got from a dealership in March It is still not empty, and gets more use than the butane even now I have the camper - I got it to fuel the cooker in my TT but now use it with my cadac.
I would say it has so far cooked at very least 75 meals, probably over , usually for at least 3 people. I have never used any kind of spray, but always store the cylinder upright. I personally would never transport a gas cylinder in a roof box. Or in the box on the a frame of the trailer, which I was never certain about either tbh. I am sure the cylinders are safe, but having seen first hand what happens when gas cylinders explode, I tend to err on the side of extreme caution!

It's just me at the moment, I rarely use more than one burner. Oven and grill dont stay lit for some annoying reason! So can anyone give me an idea of how long a bottle might last me? I know its subjective. Heating is all deisel and charcoal charcoal going once its run out. RobbieW Well-known member.

If it's any help people who liveaboard over the winter months tend to buy a local big bottle and a reg , much cheaper that way. As in normal times we normally eat out a bottle lasts about 4 months. Plinky VIP Member. Messages 73 Location Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk, UK. Hi, just a fairly open question on gas. If I had say two cups of tea a day plus 20 mins extra gas for cooking, how long could i expect a bottle to last? About 2 months But carry one of the smaller bottles as an emergency supply.
