How does god describe himself in the bible

Take a few moments to sit and think about who God is. Most people see either just the great love of God, or they just see the hard judgements of God. Yet, here you can see that God is a loving and righteous judge. God loves you greater than any person on this earth could ever love you, yet, He is also going to judge all sin.

Seek the forgiveness that Jesus offers. Do not allow yourself to live in sin and get punished. I pray today that God will reveal His glory to you; that you will see God for who He really is; that God will reveal His love to you; that God will reveal His judgments to you; and that you will know and worship God for who He is.

Surely when we think about the waiting judgement for those outside Christ we will be compelled to earnestly share the gospel to rescue as many as we can. Like Liked by 1 person. So very true Rodney. If we really realize the reality of that judgment, we would never want anyone to have to go through it. That is true love. Thanks for sharing the comment. Like Like. Blessed by this today.

I was thinking of the long suffering of God and did a search and found this. The whole article is beneficial, but this line in particular stood out in relation to my current situation. Praise the Lord that it blessed you. Thank you for reading and letting me know how it blessed you. May God give you the strength you need to endure the journey He has you on. Friends are loyal, reliable, and you can always count on them. Abraham was all of those to God. David knew a thing or two about shepherding; he protected his sheep with his life, killing predators such as bears and lions. Bad things were not going to happen to his flock. And so he wrote passionately about the Lord as his shepherd in the 23rd Psalm.

Not so in most of history. Kings had ultimate power over their subjects. The nation in captivity was sure that God had forgotten His people. Not so. A tree in the grove is not producing. The easiest thing to do is not put any more effort into it; just pull it up and discard it. Because God is a Person, he also has a will, the volitional aspect of personality.

He has the ability to make his own decisions and choose his own actions John ; Rom. The acts of God are not responsive to outside stimulus as ours sometimes are. When God acts, his volition is motivated according to his predetermined will. God is characterized as life in Scripture. He is both the source and sustainer of all life John In essence, life comes from the nature of God, because God is life.

When God gives life to something, he gives a part of his nature to it. One of the primary names of God in the Old Testament, Jehovah, emphasizes the self-existent nature of God. Our continued existence depends on the environment which God has placed us in, but God exists without that limitation.

Man exists in dependence upon food, water, and air, but God exists independently. From before birth man is dependent upon others, but God is dependent only upon himself. God is immutable or unchanging. Changes either improve or corrupt the person or thing being changed. Since God by definition is perfect Ps. God is consistent in His attitude toward sin. By definition, God is perfect and cannot become better Ps. If he became less than perfect, he would not be God. God is therefore immutable; he cannot change.

To deny the immutability of God, some have pointed to the biblical accounts of God repenting. A close look at these accounts Gen. When men sinned, God was consistent in his nature to judge sin. When men sought to live for God, God was still consistent in his nature to reward believers. The changing life-styles of men caused the consistent behavior of God to appear to change, but the change was not in God.

God is unchangeable. God is not limited by time and space. There can only be one God.
